Welp, I finished a very long project, well sorta anyway. I have been working on a mod for Smoothwall, which is a free firewall. I will include a link to more information, but basically it provides High Availability. This basically means that when one machine goes offline, the other takes over for it. Here is a screenshot for the config/control screen.
